from firewood

Many large trees fall on their own and end up as firewood, because the machines that could cut a trunk that size are missing. We have them.
A cedar slice destined for the stove became a coffee table 105 centimetres across. The surface is charred, the underside hollowed out so the piece can be moved. Oiled and waxed, nothing more.
You can count the growth rings. The wood comes from the area.
