three thousand years in the bog

A larch trunk lay in the bog near Colfosco, five metres below the surface. Radiocarbon dating placed it between 1419 and 1275 BC. When that tree fell, Tutankhamun's tomb had not yet been sealed.

Gömülsmíði was made from this wood, a table of bog larch and steel. We showed it for the first time at the Hotel 2023 trade fair in Bolzano.

Wood that has spent three thousand years in a bog behaves differently from freshly cut timber. It is harder, darker, and forgives no mistake when cutting. There is no reordering something like this.
